Atlona announces new amplifier in GAIN series of audio products - Installation

AT-GAIN-M50-LZ, a 50-watt mixer-amplifier has more versatility for education vertical through new features, including audio ducking, which lowers audio on input 1 when a teacher uses a mic linked to input 2

Atlona has announced the latest additions to its GAIN Series of audio products. Now shipping, Atlona’s AT-GAIN-M50-LZ is a two-input mixer amplifier designed for low impedance education and commercial applications. In addition, the AT-GAIN-VOL is a volume control wallplate that pairs with the GAIN-M50-LZ.

The versatile GAIN-M50-LZ delivers two channels of 25 watts each into 4 or 8 ohms, or a single channel of 50 watts. It features two unbalanced stereo audio inputs on RCA and 3.5mm connections with independent level control for each. An unbalanced 3.5mm output can pass the mixed signal to an assistive listening system or separate audio system.

Atlona says it has boosted the GAIN-M50-LZ’s versatility for the education vertical through special capabilities that ensure critical lesson material and announcements are communicated clearly. This includes audio ducking, which lowers the programme audio level on input 1 when a teacher speaks into a microphone system connected to input 2.

Additionally, its PA sense function mutes the amplifier’s output upon detecting activity on the school public address system. These features were first introduced earlier this year within Atlona’s AT-OME-CS31 Series of switchers, and are now included in the GAIN-M50-LZ amplifier as well.

Mounting flexibility and energy efficiency are also key elements of the GAIN-M50-LZ, Atlona says. It’s low-profile enclosure is UL 2043 rated for installation in plenum airspaces, or it can be placed on the wall behind a display or under a table. It is also ENERGY STAR qualified, helping to reduce power consumption and energy costs.

The GAIN-VOL provides a manual interface for controlling GAIN-M50-LZ volume levels when a traditional AV control system is not being used in the room. The GAIN-VOL is housed in a US one-gang enclosure intended for wallplate openings and includes interchangeable black or white trim kits.

Tommy Gay, product danager, Atlona, said: “The GAIN-M50-LZ is ideal for straight forward sound reinforcement in commercial and education applications. It’s a great solution for when you need to mix a couple of audio sources and drive some low impedance speakers. For classrooms and other instructional spaces, it also provides ducking when the teacher speaks and mutes audio during public address announcements.”
